It had more of it that had a "medieval feel" though. They are better in many parts, but don't have the good 'medieval feel' at all, which CK1 really had.Ck1 had less historically accurate heraldy than ck2. The 3d-ish character portraits of CK2 don't match up to the good old CK1 portraits as far as I have seen. And really had the 'medieval feel', especially in the portraits: In my opinion, CK1 had more historically accurate heraldry than CK2. On the second note, do you guys remember this: Too bad they abandoned it, Sengoku had the potential to be one of the most addictive Paradox game ever. In EU3 it had an interesting system, and even Medieval 2 has more interesting Popes, with a College of Cardinals and such. I mean, as any addition, it would be neat, but for me its more imperative that the Papacy is reworked. I sincerely don't get all the fluff about Theocracies. īut yes, kudos if Paradox gets us to play Republics, i salivate at the mere thought of playing Venice (i had a blast playing as them in EU3). Perhaps we get the chance of playing as the Vikings or Magyars. Thus, a very nice suggestion i've seen is that Paradox puts an even earlier start date, possibly in the 900s, as the Carolingian Empire is collapsing, when Christianity wasn't as widespread (Hungary, Poland, the Norse and the Russians would still be largely pagans). You might get luckier as the Cuman Khan, but if you play a Norse chief in Scandinavia or a Baltic pagan, you'll be overwhelmed before the 12th century ends, steamrolled by Holy Wars. In fact, there is one more point that has been discussed many times in the official Paradox Forums - the pagans as a whole are doomed by the 11th century, when the game starts. I'd pay dearly for a DLC that distinguished the gameplay and events between the existing types - so it would be a entirely different experience playing a Scandinavian lord (like Erik the Heathen), a Lithuanian chief and a Cuman warlord. You see, the problem is that the game puts various different religious systems and cultures inside a generic umbrella "pagan religion".
In fact, of all DLCs that we're foreseeing, it might be the one with the biggest potential. The only thing needed is the Holy Wars for Pagans and some events.I disagree that playable pagans would be a simple script mod. But playing Pagans is not worth a paid DLC. Peacefully managing a small court is huge fun.īut I welcome playing republics and theocracies as long as they are historically accurate and are not bugged. I like to live in a smaller world and out of the big picture above.
